It may be possible that I may be leaving DC after this semester so I thought I would start a little fun project...
A restaurant review!
I would like to begin with one of my regular spots

Kaz Sushi
Located: 21st & I
Here is the thing with Kaz, the portions are small and at first the prices seem very high for such tiny pieces of sushi but lets be real here, portions in the US are WAY TOO BIG!!!!!  I go here at least once a week for lunch.
My favorites there are the masago with quail egg and the spicy scallop roll with LOTS of ginger.  (my secret is you put the ginger on top of the spicy scallop sushi)

The salmon sashimi (which is my favorite) isn't the best but whatever.
I would also recommend the miso soup.
All in all Kaz is very good.  the outside of the building isn't very nice but the inside is pretty trendy. Sushi time!!! YUM!!!

Lil Bit of Southern Inspiration

So you're standing in the middle of the thunder and lightning
I know you're feeling like you just can't win, but you're trying
It's hard to keep on keepin' on, when you're being pushed around
Don't even know which way is up, you just keep spinning down, 'round, down…

Every storm runs, runs out of rain
Just like every dark night turns into day
Every heartache will fade away
Just like every storm runs, runs out of rain

So hold your head up and tell yourself that there's something more
And walk out that door,
Go find a new rose, don't be afraid of the thorns
'Cause we all have thorns
Just put your feet up to the edge, put your face in the wind
And when you fall back down, keep on rememberin'

Every storm runs, runs out of rain
Just like every dark night turns into day
Every heartache will fade away
Just like every storm runs, runs out of rain
(Every Storm- Gary Allen)

Bubbly Bubbly

2013

People find my outlook on life rather silly at times, but over time i have come to find that hey, if i'm happy and their not should i really care what they think of my antics?  Maybe they should be taking a lesson from me....
point of the story is that over the break I had a friend laugh about how excited and giddy I got over the thought of a new year.  Here's the way I see it.  New Year, new slate.  It's easier for my to start fresh, to  re-evaluate where I stand in life and consider where I want to eventually be.  Am I happy with my current position?
I thought it would be smart to write out a few resolutions (in hopes of following through with them past march)

1) be healthier
Start excersising more and eating more super foods!!!  This will give me an excuse to start cooking for myself and maybe trying some new classes like barre!!

2) Be more fashionable!!!
In other words stalk pintrest and see what I like and how to make it work for me!  There are also a ton of books i want to read on how to keep it classy including Andrea Pomerantz Lustig's How to Look Expensive and Jordan Christy's How to be a Hepburn in a Hilton World.  I truly believe that looks are not everything in life BUT how are others expected to take you seriously and invest in you if you dont invest in yourself??

3) Be Amazed (granted I stole this one from New Years Eve, but hey it's a good one)

4) Slow down and enjoy where you are rather than rushing ahead to the next step

5) Learn 5 new things about myself.  No one knows you better than you (hopefully)

To a fabulous 2013!!!

Dancing Pen

Dancing Pen

Pen dancing
Late into the night
Hum goes the house
Yet the pen still writes

Slowly clicking, the clock whines
Yet the pen pays no heed
It has its own mind

Lights flicker off
In rooms unseen
Yet still the pen swirls
Lost in its own dream

Exhausted at last
The pen takes a pause
Yet a moment later
The dance is back on

Happy Halloween!

My favorite holiday of the year has finally arrived!!!!!  I am trying to figure out what to do for tonight, my city seems to come alive on this night every year.  The streets are flooded with monsters, witches, fairies, and inatimate objects.  Music pours out of bars and slithers into every alley way.
The city goes nuts!! We got very lucky because we may have some full moon left (hopefully) or no moon at all... ( i don't know which would be better!!!) :D

The wind is howling
Trees are bowing
The moon begins to rise

The earth is groaning
The ghost are moaning
The leaves begins to dance

The candle is burning
The cauldron is churning
The witches begin to chant

The children come out
And dance about
When all hallows eve
Begins

Happy Halloween To All!

When your cooped up all day i guess the creative juices start working.....  I found this poem super inspirational and fall/Halloween is one of my favorite seasons/holidays.  There's something... magical.... about the weather.  It seems to creep into you, filling you with awe and excitement!!!!
Every time I walk outside I just want to run through leaves and carve pumpkins and sip hot cider.  Such a romantic season :) Ahhhh!

Samhain

(The Celtic Halloween)
In the season leaves should love,
since it gives them leave to move
through the wind, towards the ground
they were watching while they hung,
legend says there is a seam
stitching darkness like a name.

Now when dying grasses veil
earth from the sky in one last pale
wave, as autumn dies to bring
winter back, and then the spring,
we who die ourselves can peel
back another kind of veil

that hangs among us like thick smoke.
Tonight at last I feel it shake.
I feel the nights stretching away
thousands long behind the days
till they reach the darkness where
all of me is ancestor.

I move my hand and feel a touch
move with me, and when I brush
my own mind across another,
I am with my mother's mother.
Sure as footsteps in my waiting
self, I find her, and she brings

arms that carry answers for me,
intimate, a waiting bounty.
"Carry me." She leaves this trail
through a shudder of the veil,
and leaves, like amber where she stays,
a gift for her perpetual gaze.

When Sandy Comes

Being cooped up because of Hurricane Sandy has me thinking a lot about traveling.  A few years back I adventured to the UK and I absolutely loved it!!!  I studied at the University of St. Andrews and then continued my adventure to Ireland.  Maybe i have seen P.S I Love You and Leap Year one too many times, but over the years I have grown to have an obsession with Ireland.
It's such a magical land.  Stones jut out of rolling green hills and then suddenly the land just seems to drop away and before you is a beautiful dark blue wild ocean.  I stayed with my Aunt at the Hoath lighthouse and then travelled to horse country to stay with another cousin. Best trip of my life and I am dying to go back!!!! I'm hoping to maybe study there next year.
Here are some beautiful pictures (thanks to pintrest)  Enjoy!!!

Very Very Similar to were I stayed :D
